Birth of Paramahansa Yogananda

Paramhansa Yoganand ji was born on 5 January 1893 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was a spiritual guru, yogi and saint. He preached Kriya Yoga to his followers and spread it everywhere in the whole world. His real name was Mukund Lal Ghosh. His father’s name was The name was Bhagwati Charan Ghosh. He was serving as the vice-president in the Bengal Nagpur Railway B.N.R. Yogananda’s parents had 8 children, four brothers and four sisters. Yogananda was the second of the brothers and the fourth of all. His parents- Father was Bengali regional. Both were of saintly nature. His family lived in many cities during his childhood. The first 8 years of his life were spent in Gorakhpur.
Yoganand ji had a longing to know and find God since childhood.

Some stories from the life of Yogananda

Going to the Himalayas-

Death of Yogananda

God-realized yogis do not abruptly leave their physical bodies. They have full knowledge of the time of their great departure from the earth. They had given information of their death to their followers in signs, they had prior knowledge of their death. On March 1952, when Yoganand ji had a speech in America, in which Yoganand ji spoke about the glory of his country India and its happiness. He is buried in mausoleum. His mortal remains are still temporarily kept in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Los Angeles.
