Brig Balram Singh Mehta fought on the Eastern Front during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. This battle was fought in Garibpur. 

The war started after airstrikes on 11 Indian airports.  For this reason the enmity with Pakistan started, and only after this the Indian Army has spotted the Bengali nationalist court in the war of Independence in this Pakistan (which is now Bangladesh). Such a war was the first time, when all the three armies of India (Jal Force, Army, Air Force) fought unitedly. India won the war against Pakistan. In this war Bangladesh got liberation from Pakistan and Bangladesh became India’s. This war lasted for about 13 days. This is one of the shortest wars in history. On 16 August 1971, the Chief of the Pakistani Army “Amir Abdullah Khan” along with his 93 Pakistani soldiers surrendered to the Indian Army. With this Bangladesh became independent, and this war was over. This was the largest military surrender after the Second World War. This war is also known as Battle of Garibpur. 

Career of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta

Brig Balram Singh Mehta was commissioned 43 Cavalry on 15 June 1966. He was from an illustrious military family. In 1984, he formed the 13th Armored Regiment.  Balram Singh Mehta joined the College of Combat in 1990 as Higher Command 18  participated in. He has the distinction of having served in command assignments with the three Strike Corps as well as on the staff of the Mountain and Infantry Divisions, in addition to deputation with the Cabinet Secretariat. 

From 1998 to 2001, he took premature retirement to serve with the Government of Gujarat. In 2002, he had organized internship course for retiring office workers at “Internship Development Institute of India” Ahmedabad. During 15 years he worked as a counselor in the universities of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This includes meditation, skill development etc. He is also a member of an NGO “Jai Jawan Nagrik”. Presently it is head quarter “maharishi invincible defense for peace”  Holding the post of Director General.
